How Much Does a Solar Panel System Cost in Mallorca? The 7 Cost Factors

In short: There is no reputable fixed price for "a solar system in Mallorca." The price depends primarily on the system size, battery storage, your roof, and the permitting process. A reliable quote can only be generated after reviewing your electricity bill and conducting an on-site visit.
Why fixed package prices are misleading
Prices per kilowatt-peak found on the internet often compare apples to oranges: with or without battery storage, with or without permits, flat roof or tile roof. In Mallorca, island-specific factors also come into play, such as transport logistics, access to fincas, and municipal regulations. That is why we do not quote flat-rate prices, but instead explain what determines the cost.
The 7 factors that determine the price
System size: It depends on your consumption, not your roof area. Pools, air conditioning, heat pumps, and electric vehicles increase the requirement.
Battery storage: It stores solar energy for the evening. Size and manufacturer significantly influence the price. Not every home needs one.
Roof and installation: Flat roof, tile roof, or terrace, structural integrity, height, and access. Scaffolding or a crane incurs extra costs.
Components: Modules, inverters, and storage systems vary in quality, warranty, and emergency power capability.
Electrical installation and grid connection: Meter panel, cable routing, and potentially a wallbox for an electric vehicle.
Permits and grid registration: Municipal application, legalization, and grid registration. In rural or protected areas, the effort is higher. Municipal fees are charged separately by the local town hall.
Subsidies and taxes: Grants and discounts on IBI and ICIO reduce net costs, depending on the program and municipality. They apply based on current status and subject to approval.
What the costs do not show: the savings
What matters is not just the price, but how much expensive grid electricity the system replaces. Those who consume a lot during the day, for instance for a pool or air conditioning, use more solar power directly. Added to this are feed-in compensation for surplus power, a suitable tariff, and the correct contracted capacity (potencia).
Checklist: How to compare offers properly
Is the system size calculated based on your actual consumption?
Are the manufacturer and model specified for the modules, inverter, and battery storage?
Are permits, legalization, and grid registration included?
Is it clear which fees the municipality charges separately?
Who handles subsidy applications and IBI/ICIO tax reductions?
What warranties apply, and is there a local contact person?
Is there an on-site visit before a binding quote is provided?
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Sunglow not quote flat-rate prices?
Because two systems with the same capacity can vary greatly in cost depending on the roof, storage, and permitting requirements. A flat-rate price would either be too high or require renegotiation later.
Do I definitely need a battery storage system?
No. It is primarily worthwhile if you have high evening consumption or if you want backup power during outages.
Are there subsidies for solar systems in Mallorca?
Depending on the current program, grants and municipal tax reductions are available. We check on an individual basis whether and to what extent they apply to you, subject to approval.
How do I get a specific price?
Send us your electricity bill and a few details about your property. You will then receive an initial estimate and, following an on-site visit, a binding quote.
